Job description

Your Main Priorities

 You will play an active role within a safeguarding team, ensuring proportionate safeguarding responses are provided to adults at risk in line with relevant legislation. Key duties

 Applying Section 42 of the Care Act 2014 to referrals received and determining appropriate responses.

 Assessing the care and support needs of adults when required as part of a safeguarding response.

 Assess mental capacity and if required and support adults to make decisions in their best interests.

 Support adults who may lack capacity and if necessary to apply to the Court of Protection for authorisation of any deprivation of liberty.

 Manage a caseload of safeguarding cases, providing a social work service to people with care and support needs, which will include adults at risk of harm and neglect.

 Working with other professionals to ensure appropriate multi-agency responses.

 Liaise with other Social Service professionals, health professionals and partner agencies.

 Undertake administration (including keeping of appropriate up-to-date records) and management of personal workload providing statistical information as required.

 Advocate on behalf of adults with a view to resolving areas of conflict.

 Contribute as required to any working or project group which is engaged in developing or improving services.

Essential requirements:
* Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
* Registration with Social Work England
* ASYE completed
