Job description

Our client Sheffield City Council is looking for a A SWE registered Social Worker who has between 1 and 3 years continuous work experience in a Social Worker role since qualifying and must have passed their ASYE.

Will require experience of working within a children and families setting as a Social Worker and possibly in an unqualified role prior to qualifying.

Level 1 Social Workers are expected to hold a caseload of Child in Need and Child Protection cases.

Typical caseloads vary across functions, but a Level 1 Social Worker will hold a caseload within the prescribed caseload levels for the function in which they are based.

Level 1 Social Workers require knowledge of child care legislation and regulation especially child protection processes detailed in the 1989 Children's Act and the Every Child Matters agenda.

They also require knowledge and practical experience of child development, attachment theory, anti-discriminatory practice, the assessment framework, social work theory and methods and adult learning theory.

A Level 1 Social Worker should be able to demonstrate that they are up to date with changes to legislation, theory and practice and have continued to maintain a high level of CPD throughout their Social Work career.

A Level 1 Social Worker will require a good level of IT literacy as they will have to adapt quickly to the Local Authorities ICS system. They will also need to be proficient in the use of Microsoft office packages such as Work and Outlook.

A Level 1 Social Worker will require a good standard of written English to enable them to complete accurate and succinct records on the ICS system and write reports.

Job Purpose

Secure good outcomes for children and young people in need. Ensure that they are safe and supported to achieve their full potential, as supported by the Senior Fieldwork Manager and with support and mentoring by an experienced social worker.

Provide a high quality social work service to children, their families and carers by using relationship based practice, following service practice standards and statutory guidance.

Work in partnership with children, their families, carers and professionals to identify the right services for children who need help and protection or who need support to progress whilst in care or leaving care. Maintain accurate case notes within statutory timescales, prepare plans, reviews and reports and engage in statutory supervision.

Support children and families in transition, including children and young people moving to and between placements, returning home, being adopted or moving to independence.

Be accountable for compliance with standards and quality of social work practice.

Essential requirements:
* Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
* Registration with Social Work England
* ASYE completed
