Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Learning Disability and Neurodiversity Team for a fixed-term assignment running from April to June. The successful candidate will provide high‑quality social work practice, contributing to complex case management, risk assessments, safeguarding, and strength‑based interventions for adults with learning disabilities, autism, and other neurodiverse needs.

This role requires a practitioner with strong professional judgment, the ability to lead on complex cases, and confidence in multi‑agency working. The Senior Social Worker will support colleagues within the team, offer guidance on statutory duties, and ensure that all practice aligns with the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and related legislation. They will be expected to maintain clear, accurate case records and ensure timely progression of assessments and reviews.

Due to the operational needs of the service, the post‑holder must be within a commutable distance of Reading, as regular office attendance will be required for meetings, supervision, and collaborative working. The role also involves face‑to‑face home visits, community engagement, and partnership working with health, housing, and voluntary sector providers. This assignment is full‑time and requires a practitioner who can confidently manage a dynamic workload from day one.
