Job description

We are urgently recruiting experienced tutors to support looked-after children and asylum-seeking young people in Brighton & Hove. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable learners who need tailored, compassionate educational support.

Role Overview

We are seeking dedicated tutors to deliver high-quality, 1:1 tuition across a range of subjects and levels:

  • Primary (EYFS & KS1-KS2)

  • Secondary: English, Maths & Science

  • Functional Skills (Maths & English up to Level 2)

Student Profile

You will be supporting children and young people who:

  • Are looked-after or asylum seekers

  • Are working below age-related expectations

  • May have Special Educational Needs (SEN) including:

    • ADHD

    • Dyslexia

    • Dyscalculia

    • ODD

    • SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs)

  • Often experience high anxiety and may be emotionally based school avoiders

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years UK teaching or tutoring experience

  • QTS and PGCE essential
    (Exception: ESOL tutors must hold a Level 5 ESOL qualification)

  • Strong understanding of SEN and trauma-informed approaches

  • Ability to build trust and engage vulnerable learners

Details

  • Location: Brighton & Hove

  • Pay: £30 - £32.50 per hour

  • Hours:

    • Morning sessions (URGENT)

    • Afternoon sessions (URGENT)

    • After school

  • Commitment: 1-5 hours per student per week

  • Positions: Multiple tutors required
