Job description
We are urgently recruiting experienced tutors to support looked-after children and asylum-seeking young people in Brighton & Hove. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable learners who need tailored, compassionate educational support.
Role Overview
We are seeking dedicated tutors to deliver high-quality, 1:1 tuition across a range of subjects and levels:
Primary (EYFS & KS1-KS2)
Secondary: English, Maths & Science
Functional Skills (Maths & English up to Level 2)
Student Profile
You will be supporting children and young people who:
Are looked-after or asylum seekers
Are working below age-related expectations
May have Special Educational Needs (SEN) including:
ADHD
Dyslexia
Dyscalculia
ODD
SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs)
Often experience high anxiety and may be emotionally based school avoiders
Requirements
Minimum 2 years UK teaching or tutoring experience
QTS and PGCE essential
(Exception: ESOL tutors must hold a Level 5 ESOL qualification)Strong understanding of SEN and trauma-informed approaches
Ability to build trust and engage vulnerable learners

Location: Brighton & Hove
Pay: £30 - £32.50 per hour
Hours:
Morning sessions (URGENT)
Afternoon sessions (URGENT)
After school
Commitment: 1-5 hours per student per week
Positions: Multiple tutors required
