Job description

An experienced communications officer with excellent graphic design skills is required to support the delivery of communications and engagement to minimise the spread of COVID-19 across the borough, and support the continued rollout of the vaccine programme. The role will play an essential part in raising awareness and understanding of the key public health messages around COVID-19 prevention, testing, self-solation, vaccine eligibility and combating vaccine hesitancy - particularly among under-represented groups - and encouraging behaviour change to limit the spread of the virus.

The successful individual will work with the Communications and Engagement Managers and Vaccine Communications Lead in delivering simple and effective communications to minimise the spread of COVID-19, increase uptake of the vaccine and ensure all of our diverse communities are informed, safe, reassured and inspired to play their part in controlling the virus. Work will focus on communications and engagement across a variety of tactics and channels including social media, website, newsletters, video, graphic design. Work will be undertaken in close collaboration with our Public Health team, NHS and other local partners and other London boroughs. Person specification communicates clearly, confidently and appropriately using the best tools and methods for the task; proficient in managing and prioritising a demanding communications and engagement work programme to tight timescale; ability to be flexible and adapt to fast changing policy and public health developments; ability to influence and motivate a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve the objectives; strong graphic design skills - experience of InDesign desirable; extensive social media experience and strong understanding and experience of using digital communications to encourage behaviour change; extensive experience of creating impactful written, visual and audio visual content for a range of audiences - residents, businesses, community groups; creative independent thinker, confident in presenting new ideas; thorough approach to all communications, with a keen eye for detail.

This role is to work from home and will last until March 2022.
