Autism Teaching Assistant - Secondary SEN School

Location: Lewisham, South East London
Start Date: September 2025
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Pay Rate: £95 - £115 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time | Term-time only

A well-resourced and supportive secondary SEN school in Lewisham is seeking a dedicated Autism Teaching Assistant to work within its specialist SEN units. You'll be supporting students aged 11-18 with Autism, Global Developmental Delay, ADHD, and physical disabilities.

The Role:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with complex needs

• Assist with personal care and mobility where required

• Support students with communication, emotional regulation, and classroom engagement

• Work closely with SEN teachers and therapists to implement EHCP targets

• Use specialist tools such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory strategies (training can be provided)

• Maintain a calm, consistent presence in class and around the school

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous experience working with students with autism and complex needs

• Confidence supporting children with physical disabilities and personal care

• A calm, patient and proactive approach to supporting behaviour and learning

• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

• A genuine passion for SEN and inclusive education
