Year 1 General Teaching Assistant - Lewisham

Full Time, Monday-Friday, 8.30am-3:30pm
Start Date: ASAP

A welcoming primary school in Lewisham is seeking a committed and experienced General Teaching Assistant to support between their Year 1 class from Monday 23rd February 2026 until the end of the academic year (July 2026).

About the Role

  • Supporting teaching and learning in a Year 1
  • Hours: 8.30am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday
  • Working closely with the class teacher to enhance learning, deliver small-group and 1:1 support, and assist with classroom routines
  • Contributing to pupils' academic, social, and emotional development
  • Providing adaptable support across core subjects where needed
  • Supported throughout the placement by Carly Walters, Remedy Recruitment Consultant with over 9 years' experience in the education recruitment sector.

What We're Looking For

The school is seeking a confident, proactive, and experienced Teaching Assistant who will be a true asset to both the teacher and the class.

Essential qualities include:

  • Previous experience working as a TA in a primary setting
  • Strong understanding of KS1 learning and classroom expectations
  • Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with pupils
  • A calm, friendly, and professional approach
  • Reliability, excellent communication, and strong teamwork skills
