Job description
Our client, Wigan Council, are looking for a Team Manager to join their MAST team
We are looking for an experienced, innovative, and creative team manager to join our Children's First Partnership Hub. As one of our Team Managers you will have knowledge of children's services legislative frameworks and legal proceedings and have the ability to make complex information accessible for every audience. You will ensure the delivery of a high quality and effective social work practice to support, empower and promote independence, strengths and assets of both children and families within their local communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and operational oversight of the Children's First Partnership Hub (CFPH), including Early Help and MASH functions.
- Manage triage and screening of referrals, ensuring timely and evidence-based decision-making.
- Ensure statutory safeguarding duties are met in line with the Safeguarding Children's Partnership threshold document.
- Lead multi-agency decision-making processes and ensure correct thresholds are applied.
- Supervise and support staff including Social Workers, CAROs, and Business Support Officers.
- Maintain high standards of information sharing and collaborative working with partner agencies.
- Champion strength-based and relationship-focused practice across the team.
- Provide management oversight of contact records and referrals, ensuring child-focused and safe decisions.
- Support quality assurance through audits and learning reviews.
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Minimum 3 years' post-qualifying experience in children's social care.
- Proven experience in child protection, safeguarding, and multi-agency working.
- Strong leadership, assessment, and decision-making skills.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory guidance.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
