Teacher of Barbering - SEMH Interventions ✂️
Location: Tower Hamlets
Contract: Full-time / Term-time only
Start Date: Immediate
Rate : £130-£200
We are looking for an inspiring and creative School Barber Teacher to join our team and deliver tailored interventions for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a unique teaching role that blends barbering skills with education and mentoring, using practical, hands-on learning to build trust, boost self-esteem, and re-engage pupils with school life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging barbering sessions as part of SEMH interventions.
- Use the barbering environment to develop pupils' confidence, communication, and social skills.
- Support individual pupils and small groups, linking interventions to their personal development plans.
- Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to support progress.
- Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and life skills through teaching and mentoring.
- Track outcomes and contribute to reports on pupil progress.
Person Specification:
- Barbering qualification (Level 2/3 or equivalent).
- Experience in teaching, training, or mentoring young people.
- Knowledge and understanding of SEMH needs in an educational context.
- Strong classroom/behaviour management skills.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to engage and motivate hard-to-reach learners.
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply).
