Job description

Our client, Tameside Council, is looking for a Head of Service to join their Childrens Services.

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Children's Services, this role is an integral part of the leadership team and will lead and provide strategic direction to the Safeguarding and Quality Assurance team. As Head of Service, the post holder will drive the delivery of high-quality standards in our social work practice. You will ensure the delivery of safe, first-class, cost-effective and timely services to our children, their families and the wider workforce.

With responsibility for the management and delivery of a whole service approach, the post holder will be an inspirational and qualified social care leader who will thrive on the opportunity to drive stronger practice within Children's Services.

The post holder will have a demonstrable track record of delivering high quality safeguarding and quality assured services and a track record of improving children's social care services. Being able to evidence success is key. The post holder will have experience in establishing a performance culture, including service planning, target setting, performance appraisal and the management and motivation of diverse staff groups.

You will have outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to establish positive relationships with government, professional and other organisations, Elected Members, trade unions, partners, staff and the community, to generate confidence, trust and respect.

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to balance conflicting demands and lead our safeguarding agenda will be paramount to provide our children with the confidence and safety in the life chances they all deserve.

Essential requirements:
* Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
* Registration with Social Work England
* ASYE completed
