Job description

our client Staffordshire County Council is looking for a Senior Social Worker to join their LAC team. This is an experienced practitioner role with a minimum of 2 years experience and have undertaken significant additional post qualifying learning and professional development. They will have specific responsibilities for dealing with more complex cases, including assessment and appropriate management of risks and providing casework supervision to other team members. Holds caseload of more complex cases: provides advice to other Social Workers in relation to their cases. Provides casework supervision to other Social Workers in the team and may also supervise students, trainees, less experienced professional team members, support staff or volunteers. Act as a recognised expert within the specialist field.These experienced social workers are more autonomous in their role. They demonstrate expert and effective practice in complex situations, assessing and managing higher levels of risk, striking a balance between support and control, liaising with a wide range of professionals, including more senior levels. They manage complex caseloads, and offer expert opinion within the organisation and to others. They chair a range of meetings, offer expert support to case conferences, and produce high quality assessments and reports for a range of functions. They model good practice, setting expectations for others. They start to take responsibility and be accountable for the practice of others, mentoring newly qualified social workers, and supervising the work of junior staff. They undertake capacity-building with individuals, families, communities, user groups and voluntary organisations, and contribute their views on service provision to commissioners whilst maintaining the core principles of an outcome focused approach.

Essential requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • ASYE completed
