SEN Teaching Assistant - Barking | Full-Time | September Start
We are currently recruiting for experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join a well-regarded specialist school in Barking, supporting students with a range of complex needs including severe learning difficulties, autism, and challenging behaviour.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education and confident working with pupils who require consistent, specialist support in a structured environment.
About the role:
Full-time, Monday to Friday
Working 1:1 and in small groups across key stages
Supporting students with ASD, severe learning difficulties, and complex emotional and behavioural needs
Assisting with personal care and daily routines
Using visual aids, communication tools, and sensory strategies
Implementing positive behaviour support techniques
What we're looking for:
Proven experience in SEN settings (SLD, PMLD, ASD, SEMH)
Confident managing challenging behaviour and using de-escalation strategies
Patient, reliable, and adaptable
Comfortable providing personal care when needed
A calm and supportive presence in the classroom
Desirable but not essential:
Team Teach or other behaviour management training
Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or augmentative communication tools
Location: Barking
Start Date: September (with opportunities for immediate trial days)
Pay: £95-£120 per day (depending on experience)
