Senior Transport Planner

Oxfordshire

£35-40ph

Focus for this role will be working on transport schemes at feasibility stage and taking them through the planning application process

To be responsible for the development of transport strategy proposals for localities;

To be responsible for providing experienced technical input to help to identify the transport infrastructure requirements necessary to support sustainable economic growth in localities;

To be responsible for providing transport input into Local Plans and their associated documents and County Council responses to development proposals;

To be responsible for ensuring that all relevant County Council policies and procedures are adhered to and concerns are raised in accordance with these policies.

To identify schemes for inclusion within the 5 year infrastructure plans and 2 year infrastructure programmes for the Localities.

To be responsible for the development, commissioning and implementation of transport planning projects and studies (including those conducted by external consultants) taking responsibility for their day-to-day management as required in accordance with Oxfordshire County Council's Project Management guidelines.

To lead option appraisal and scheme feasibility, initial costing and other assessments to determine priorities and provide an initial assessment of scheme costs/benefits;

Ensure that the County Council's transport infrastructure and service requirements are taken into account by District Councils when considering Local Plans and major planning applications by providing input into:

  • the preparation of Local Plans and associated documents
  • the preparation of charging schedules for the Community Infrastructure Levy
  • pre-application discussions on strategic development proposals
  • consultations on strategic development proposals
  • the preparation of evidence to support the County Council's case at examinations in public and/or public inquiries
