An Outstanding Special Needs School situated in North London is seeking to appoint a Primary SEND Teacher
The class:
6 boy ASD students (Verbal) 2-3 TAs in the class
The school caters to Primary students with ASD/autism and Asperger's. As a result the school are seeking to appoint a Primary SEND Teacher who can take over and continue the good work established by the current incumbent.
This position has arisen due to a member of staff taking a promotion at another school. The role offers the opportunity to work with an established, hard-working and highly adaptable team of three specialist Teaching Assistants (TAs) and a higher level teaching assistant (HLTA). The team are very friendly and have a great understanding of the needs and characteristics of the children in class. This coupled with the schools highly praised SLT, excellent CPD and effective assessment and data systems will ensure a comprehensive and smooth handover.
The school provide their staff with brilliant support and offer excellent training courses and employment progression.
You must have recent experience teaching students with autism, ideally within a special needs environment or Primary teachers with recent experience teaching a pupil or pupils with more complex learning needs in a mainstream school will be considered although the school are clear that the challenge will be difficult initially.
The class consists of six pupils and have been grouped in accordance with their academic and social development. The school itself has been heavily invested in over the last few years and facilities are exceptional. Parking is plentiful and the school can easily be accessed from East London, North London and parts of Essex due to excellent road and public transport links.
The ideal candidate would have:
A proven record of teaching Primary students
The ability to prepare and teach effective lessons taking into account the individual needs of learners
A creative approach to lesson planning
A patient, calm and engaging classroom manner
Strong communication and team leadership skills
Full teacher status
Registered DBS or be prepared to carry out a new DBS application.
