Finance Assistant with Front of House Responsibilities - Primary SEN School | Southwark | Up to £18 per hour

Location: Southwark, South London
Pay: Up to £18 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm
Start Date: ASAP

Job Summary:

A dedicated and supportive primary special educational needs (SEN) school in Southwark is currently seeking a Finance Assistant to join their administrative team. This is a dual-role position combining financial administration with front of house responsibilities, offering a varied and rewarding opportunity to work within a specialist educational setting.

The school caters to children with complex learning needs, including autism and associated communication challenges. Key Responsibilities:

Finance Duties:

  • Process purchase orders, invoices, and payments using school finance systems

  • Assist with budget monitoring and financial reporting

  • Maintain accurate financial records in line with audit requirements

  • Support with petty cash and reconciliations

  • Liaise with suppliers and local authority finance teams

Front of House Duties:

  • Greet all visitors, parents, and professionals in a professional and welcoming manner

  • Answer telephone and email enquiries promptly

  • Manage incoming and outgoing post

  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times

  • Provide general admin support to senior leadership and office staff

Requirements:

  • Previous finance or school office experience (essential)

  • Familiarity with school finance systems (e.g., FMS or SIMS) is highly desirable

  • Strong IT and Microsoft Excel skills

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities

  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
