Job description
Newham Adult Social Care has recognised that we want to work in co-production with our residents with Learning Disabilities and Autism, to ensure that we provide a holistic person centred service to ensure that we support people to live fulfilling lives. We have recently restructured our services so that we have a specialist Learning Disabilities and Autism Team; we are looking for a Team Manager to join our journey so that we can deliver better services.
The team forms part of the Council's whole life approach to ensure that people of any age with learning disabilities and autism can live healthy, safe, independent and fulfilling lives. We are working with our partners to develop an integrated service and improved journey for residents. We want to ensure services join and smooth out some of the issues customers and their carers experience at different stages in their lives.
The team will work with our partners who lead advocacy services for disabled people, family carers and faith groups together with the Partnership Board. Their help is essential to ensure we explore the full range of expertise and resources in our communities. The work of the team will be organised around 4 themes:
* Building community capacity and access to universal services
* Shaping independence and day opportunities
* Transforming accommodation and support
* Delivering the 'Own front door' programme
Each of these themes are interdependent, as is every member of the team.
We absolutely want to increase the number of people living independently in their own homes; with everyday access to employment and/or other worthwhile pastimes.
The team is in development, plenty of opportunities lay ahead, but we are excited by this as we have a real chance to make a genuine difference.
*Leading and managing a team of qualified and non qualified staff in the delivery of high quality assessment, support planning, review
*Providing direct line management to a Practice Manager and six social workers
providing services to adults to safeguard and promote their welfare.
Essential skills
*Good understanding and demonstrable knowledge and experience of working in relation to "Putting People First" and safeguarding principles and issues.
*Experience of managing and supervising social care staff in the delivery of social care services within diverse communities.
*Able to motivate all staff to achieve objectives, to manage their work, and to organise own workload, in a complex, demanding and pressurised environment.
*Able to manage and use financial and performance information.
