Job description
Our Client Newham Council our looking for a Qualified Social Worker to join their SEND Team.
- To complete phone assessments with families (parents and children) exploring the child's social care needs and strengths with relation to their SEND presentation.
- Develop clear recommendations of support and how/where to access this based on the needs of the child.
- To right brief reports based on the social care needs and submit them within statutory deadlines.
- To refer family's to support services, follow up referrals and occasionally attend Team Around the Child meetings focused on planning the draft proposal for an Educational Health Care Plan.
- Provide information and advice about social care to external partners and colleagues within the Special Needs Assessment Service.
- Escalate any cases that are identified as requiring further social care input to MASH/Children's Social Care.
- Raise awareness of the early help safeguarding role, child protection and social work role with families, and how the Thrive Social Worker can support services and families. This can be done through attending team meetings, parents forums, community meetings or advisory boards.

Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
Registration with Social Work England
ASYE completed
