Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, pre-planned lessons when covering teacher absence.
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs through targeted interventions and personalised strategies.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote emotional resilience.
  • Use effective behaviour-management and de-escalation strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams.
  • Track and monitor progress, contributing to personalised plans and EHCP outcomes.
  • Uphold safeguarding, wellbeing, and a positive school ethos at all times.
  • Help maintain a calm, structured, and therapeutic learning environment.

Requirements

  • Essential: Proven SEMH experience in an educational, therapeutic, or specialist setting.
  • Essential: Confident and capable of covering whole classes independently.
  • HLTA qualification preferred or equivalent experience at that level.
  • Excellent communication, resilience, and behaviour-support skills.
  • Commitment to supporting vulnerable learners and helping them flourish.
  • Ability to work full-time in a Primary SEMH School in Northampton.
