Job description

The successful candidate will be part of the reconfigured Children Specialist Support Services which launched on 1 June 2021.

The Domestic Abuse Team consists of 1 Team Manage, 1 Deputy Team Manager and x 8 Social Workers which includes a Perpetrator Lead Social Worker.

Prospective candidates will need to have relevant experience in Child Protection - Assessment / long-term CP; and demonstrate an awareness of legislation relating to DVA, particularly the DA Act 2021. We adopt a "whole family approach" which means we work with survivors, perpetrators (if safe and where there is a willingness to engage) and children/ young people impacted by domestic abuse and violence.

Caseloads are currently capped at 15 children per worker and they work in a statutory capacity under s17 - completing Child and Family Assessments and implementing Child In Need Plans.

In situations where the Child In Need plan is not progressing; the case will escalate to ICPC and transfer to the Child Protection and Family Support Service once a CPP is agreed.
