Job description

If you are an experienced an EHC Plan Writer.

Main Duties:

  • Write plans to a high standard and in accordance with the relevant statute, regulations, and Department for Education (DfE) guidance, including ensuring plans are clear, concise, and accessible.
  • Liaise with other members of the SEND Statutory Team, when required; for example, when further information or clarification is required.
  • Make sure that local authority (LA) procedures are followed, and all relevant data and information is handled appropriately. The information being handled will be confidential and sensitive and must not be disclosed to unauthorised persons.
  • Under the guidance of an Virtual School SEN Officer, ensure that all requirements of the role are completed in a timely manner and to a high standard.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities
  • Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice (2015)
  • Demonstrates strong commitment to the public service
  • Effective organisational and time management skills
  • Able to work as part of a team but often without direct supervision using own initiative

Requirements of this job:

  • Experience of writing Education Health and Care Plans
  • Experienced user of standard office ICT software application
