Job description

Our client, Cardiff Council is looking for a Team Manger to join their Intake and assessment teams you will be working with a full team of committed colleagues. The I&A team receive referrals from our MASH team once they have been screen and deemed appropriate for a statutory assessment. The team covers the whole of Cardiff on a duty rota basis and are centrally based at County Hall with agile working available to staff. The team work with children aged 0- 18 and their families.

You and your team will complete all aspects of social worker and assessments including but not exclusively Section 47 assessments, wellbeing assessments, part 4 investigations.

The Intake teams undertake the assessment and where required provide immediate support to children and their families. On occasion, this is the only intervention required. However, if a longer term intervention is needed, the child's plan will handover to a Locality team for the longer interventions as required.

There is the opportunity to undertake assessments and support with unaccompanied children and children and families with no recourse to public funds.

We work hard with children who are deemed on the edge of care to identify suitable support to ensure that they are able to remain safely within their families.

As Team Manager, you will need to be an experienced social Worker with experience in supervision either with management experience or looking to step in to a management role. You will work within the signs of safety model and ensure that the voice of the child is central to all intervention and assessment. Direct work with children is valued and a child centred and holistic view is promoted with all families.

You will need to be able to drive as home and school visits as well as joint visits with police are regularly undertaken. The are many aspects of abuse that we assess including physical harm, emotional harm, sexually and neglect and included FGM and exploitation cases.

You will need to have experience of court work.

Essential requirements:
* Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
* Registration with Social Work England
* ASYE completed
