BSL SEN Teaching Assistants
Remedy Education are looking for a BSL Teaching assistant to work in our SEN school supporting students in the classroom. You will be required to support the teacher throughout the day with the daily running's of the class and support the well being of the children.
Some children need 1:1 support with BSL and need extra help with their learning, you must have previous experience working within children in a school setting before.
As a BSL Teaching Assistant, you must have a natural ability to handle a range of different behaviours as well as having an enthusiastic and positive manner. You must be able to have a level of resilience, have a good sense of humour, be able to build rapport easily and will ideally have experience working with pupils. You will have excellent communication skills and a good level of BSL experience.
As a BSL Teaching assistant your role will include:
- Be the first point of call for the pupil
- Setting new learning targets
- Being a general support to the pupil
- Supporting the teacher as and when required
- Must have previous experience supporting pupils with hearing impairments
- Ideally have Level 3 in British Sign Language
The school is located in Lewisham South East London with friendly welcoming staff, the role starts ASAP on a full time long term basis.
