Behaviour Mentor - SEMH Support - Secondary School - Newham

Location: Newham, East London
Start Date: ASAP or September 2025
Job Type: Full-Time, Long-Term (with potential to become permanent)
Salary: £100 - £120 per day (depending on experience)

Remedy Education is working with a welcoming, inclusive and progressive school in Newham to recruit Behaviour Mentors to support students across Ks1 - KS4

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with experience in behaviour support, youth work, or special educational needs to make a real difference in the lives of young people. The school caters to students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs such as anxiety, trauma, and depression, and has a strong, supportive senior leadership team in place.

The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support to students aged 11-16

  • Implement positive behaviour strategies and support emotional regulation

  • Help students overcome barriers to learning and re-engage in education

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff

  • Build trusting, professional relationships with young people

Ideal Candidates Will:

  • Have experience working with young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour or additional needs

  • Be confident, resilient, and able to de-escalate behaviour calmly

  • Have a firm but empathetic presence with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Be passionate about education, youth support, and inclusion

  • Be available for full-time work, Monday to Friday during term time

  • Psychology Graduates

  • Aspiring Teachers or Pastoral Support Staff
