Job description

Barnet is transforming the way staff work under The Way We Work (TW3) Programme. Phase 1 of the Programme saw over 1700 staff move into our brand new Colindale office and enabled staff to work in more agile and flexible ways through better use of technology, training and equipment. The council is now transitioning to Phase 2 of the TW3 Programme and requires an Interim Change Manager for three months (with possibility of extension) to support this phase of the programme. The Change Manager will be responsible for:

  • Developing strong relationships with stakeholders across the council and its partners
  • Engaging with services impacted by the programme to ensure their input into programme scope, outcomes and delivery approach
  • Supporting services through TW3 changes, including
  1. For those services still to move into the new council office atColindale, providing:
    • Pre move support - providing briefings for managers and staff; assisting with preparation for the move
    • First week support to ensure staff settle into the office
    • Support to Change Champions to enable them to support their colleagues
    • Plans and interventions to support staff through the change
  2. Adopting new, flexible ways of working - through training, creation of team principles and 'Bin Scan Store' initiatives
  3. Other TW3 Programme change initiatives - this may include technological changes, office refurbishments etc.
  • Providing coordination and support to the Council's Change Champion network
  • Working with Internal Communications to ensure staff across the council and partners are informed about the programme and how it impacts them
  • Progressing and monitoring change plans, identifying and escalating risks or issues as appropriate

Essential experience/skills

  • Experience successfully delivering change within a large complex organisation
  • Significant knowledge of change management methodology
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and influencing skills
  • Ability to quickly build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Working knowledge of project management tools and methodologies
  • Ability to design and facilitate workshops, training and engagement sessions with groups of affected staff
  • Self-motivated with strong organisational and planning skills

Desirable

  • Recognised qualifications in change management
  • Public sector experience
