Remedy are seeking a compassionate and dedicated worker for Autism Support to provide essential help to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a school in Newham. About the Role: Autism Support Worker - Primary - Newham
As an Autism Support Worker, you will work closely with children with ASD to support their learning, development, and emotional well-being within the school environment. You will work one-on-one with children or in small groups, helping them to access the curriculum, manage social situations, and develop key life skills. This is a hands-on, rewarding role that requires patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting children with special needs.
Key Responsibilities: Autism Support - Secondary - Newham
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for children with ASD.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualised learning plans (IEPs).
- Support students with communication, social, and behavioural challenges in a positive and nurturing manner.
- Encourage participation in classroom activities and promote inclusion within the school setting.
- Help children to build independence and self-confidence.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure each child's needs are met.
- Monitor and record children's progress, providing feedback to parents and staff as required.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with Autism or special educational needs (SEN).
- Knowledge and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and how it affects children's learning and behaviour.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children.
- Ability to adapt and modify teaching methods to suit individual needs.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Team player with the ability to collaborate with colleagues and external professionals.
- A flexible and positive attitude, with a passion for supporting children with special needs.
- A relevant qualification in Education, Health, or Social Care (e.g., Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
