Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to work for a council at the epicentre of business, hospitality and tourism. You'll be supporting Westminster City Council to improve the lives of residents, businesses and visitors as part of a newly formed strategic communications team. Your role will be to support on the development and implementation of strategic campaign and communication activities that will drive the delivery of Westminster City Council's City for All vision contributing to the pillars of thriving economy, greener and cleaner, vibrant communities and smart city.

The role includes:

* Developing communication plans identifying the most effective strategies, channels and tools to engage audiences, influence perceptions, change behaviour or deliver policy

* Implementing campaigns that support the council's commitments (for example addressing rough sleeping, climate change and empowering communities to be healthy and active)

* Working with comms colleagues to develop a range of coordinated activity across the marketing and communications channels (including digital, newsletters, media and social outputs)

* Monitoring and reporting on effectiveness of campaigns and making recommendations to maximise engagement

* Working with teams across the council to develop solutions and provide communications advice

Experience required:

* 2-3 years experience of working in communications using a variety of tools, techniques and channels with minimal supervision

* Experience liaising with a range of different stakeholders both internal and external

* Skills in understanding and responding to different perspectives

* Experience working for local authority/ies or public organisations

Qualifications:

* Educated to degree level or hold a marketing/communications qualification or equivalent by experience This is a flexible hybrid working role, however following the latest Government guidance, the role is currently remote (with the option to work at City Hall if desired).
