Job description

Our Client, West Sussex Social Services, is looking for a Team Manager to join their Assessment & Intervention Team.

As Team Manager you will lead, motivate, nurture, and manage a team (social workers and unqualified staff) to deliver a children's social care service on a day to day basis. You will be responsible for ensuring the service provided is effective and delivering the required outcomes, as well as ensuring cases are dealt with in a timely manner. You will ensure that children and young people are adequately protected in line with our policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
Currently managers are expected to be onsite one week in every four.
What you'll need to succeed: For this role you will be expected to demonstrate relevant theoretical Social Work concepts, practices and detailed organisational knowledge relating to the provision of a professional Social Work service. You will need to demonstrate confidence in managing and leading staff to achieve performance improvements and service developments. You will need to demonstrate an ability to influence and negotiate partner relationships at management level.

Key Skills:

Ability to analyse and interpret information from a range of sources

Ability to assist in monitoring the work of the Team in order to be able to evaluate practice and to identify unmet need

Ability to create innovative, appropriate packages of care in order to maximise independence whilst minimising risk

Ability to deal sensitively with people who are under stress

Ability to deal with highly sensitive and, possibly, distressing information in a manner which allows for positive risk management but adheres to confidentiality policies.

Ability to identify and manage risk, including positive risk taking. Ability to understand issues involved in the assessment and management of risk

Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

Good time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines, especially with reports

You will need to be:

Social work england registered
Eligible to work in the UK
Atleast 2 years post qualifying managerial experience
