Supervising Social Worker - Calderdale Council - Fostering Team - Up to £35ph!

This is an exciting time to join the fostering service as we have recently had a service review, this has resulted in the service have 3 service areas specifically focussing on recruitment and assessment, mainstream foster care and permanent foster care. The post holder will be working within the permanence pod which consists of 1 practice managers, 1 advanced practitioner and 3 FTE social workers. Your role will be to supervise and support foster carers who provide long term care to children and young people, including connected carers. Your role will include providing a high level of support to improve placement stability and outcomes for children and young people. You will be undertaking assessment of carers and assessing support needs of those carers wishing to achieve legal permanence through special guardianship.

It is essential that applicant have a good knowledge and understanding of fostering legislation and can demonstrate this at interview.

You will be given a comprehensive induction program and provided with regular person focused supervision to meet your well-being, training and development needs. You will manage your own diary and benefit from being able to work from home as well as having access to an office base to enable you to meet with fostering colleagues and other teams and services. You will be working in partnership with other practitioners working in order to support children and young people of Calderdale.
