Inspect and monitor the borough's highway network to ensure it is maintained in a safe and serviceable condition, and take action for non-compliance under Highways Act.

Inspect the integrity and structure of the council's highway network, determine any appropriate remedial action that is required and raise task orders instructing the council's contract to take action

Inspect and monitor our highway contractor's work on the public highway to ensure compliance with permit requirements and the council's network management responsibilities.

Communicate effectively with Highways Traffic and Highways Improvement colleagues and stakeholders in the delivery of the service.

Keep accurate records of inspections and maintain and update Highways records

Ensure the delivery of the Highways Maintenance Contract through the performance management of the appointed Service Provider.

Manage the contract by monitoring the provider's performance, ensuring that corrective measures are taken in cases of under performance.

Monitor the providers performance by undertaking inspections of completed works, and measuring their performance against contracted service standards

Analyse performance information and produce reports, seek agreement on payments/deductions in accordance with agreed performance standards.

Provide advice on the Highways Maintenance Contract and to service colleagues, elected members, internal departments and members of the public and ensure effective communication with all stakeholders.
