Job description

We have an exciting opportunity to join a new Adult Autism Team! We work with individuals from 18 who have a diagnosis of Autism. No two days are ever the same and we work alongside the Early Adulthood team, housing, forensics, probation, drug and alcohol services and health. There is a real opportunity to help people move towards greater independence and a more active role in their community. We work alongside the Greater Manchester Autism Consortium, so there are many training and development opportunities open to our Team. This job can be challenging but we support one another and it can be extremely rewarding. We need 2 additional colleague with enthusiasm and a willingness to act as part of a team to continue to develop skills and services for this cohort.


The Social Worker role

You will also work in partnership with a wide range of internal and external agencies, including Education, Health, Housing, Police, Probation, Mental Health Services, Drug and Alcohol Services and a wide range of service providers. You will carry out assessments, arrange person-centred support and review packages of care in line with relevant legislation, the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005 in particular, and the national and local policies which direct and inform Autism services.

Key areas of the team's work include:
* Assessment and care management
* Safeguarding and risk management, with a focus on positive risk taking
* Forensic hospital and criminal justice work
* Court of Protection work
* Supporting people to enjoy healthier relationships
* Helping people to secure improved finances, employment and housing
* Community social work and relationship-based practice

Essential requirements:
* Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
* Registration with Social Work England
* ASYE completed
