Senior School welfare officer | SEN school | Enfield

A well-known school based in Enfield are currently looking for a senior school welfare officer for an ASAP start to start of as agency and potentially to go permanent for the right caniddate.

This is a long term role with the chance to go perm for the right candidate. The right person Must have previous experience in an education or NHS environment, including the administration of first aid. Applicants must have a DBS or be happy to have a DBS put into process.

The appointed school welfare officer will be on the following:

  • Term time only
  • Working hours: 8.30am - 3.30pm

The role of a school welfare officer will vary from day to day however focusing on the following areas:

  • Contributing first aid, health & well-being to students
  • Promote appropriate health guidance, wellbeing advice and other supportive strategies to students as necessary
  • Facilitate medical provision for students notwithstanding differences of race, gender and educational, social or medical need
  • To supervise sick and injured students, contacting parents as necessary and arranging hospitalisation or return home
  • To lead, monitor and implement individual health care plans for appropriate students
  • To administer medication, as agreed with parents and the academy health & safety policy
  • To work with individuals and groups of students on health-related issues through self-referral, drop-in sessions, peer training and proactive work on sex education and health-related issues as directed by the vice principal, behaviour and inclusion
  • To offer confidential advice to students on health-related matters.
  • To act as advocate/counsellor for students who seek medical help and support or whose need for medical interventions are recognised by others
  • To contribute, where relevant, to the compilation and updating of students' individual learning plans, action plans and targets
  • To liaise with the health agencies, social workers and other outside agencies, as directed by the multi-agency team
