Job description

Remedy Recruitment Group are looking for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to work in a new Residential Care Home in Grays, Essex.

All candidates must have a minimum of 3 years experience working with Children and Young People.

  • To Provide primary care in a safe and caring environment to help the child/young person.
  • To attend the company's induction training.
  • To work as the manager using policy and procedures and legislative requirements as a guide.
  • To be a positive role model for the child/young person and encourages the child/young person to develop meaningful relationships and attachments.
  • To contribute the normal development if the children, to enable them to reach their fullest potential by providing a stimulating and varied lifestyle.
  • To work with clear and consistent boundaries in order to create a safety and emotional containment for the children.
  • To work alongside the children/young people to help develop a true sense of identify and feel self-worth.
  • To learn how to identify signs of distress or abuse, and to ensure that children and young people are protected in line with Safeguarding Children.
  • To be sensitive to the needs of the individual children, taking into account their race, culture, language and religion and any disability.
  • To talk and listen to children, and observe their behaviour, and communicate and record significant features.
  • To be aware of the child's rights and to work in an anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive manner.
  • To work effectively alongside other members of the team to ensure that, the child/young person develops in a caring and consistent atmosphere/environment
  • To liaise, where necessary with other professionals ie. Social workers, school, NHS etc.
  • To help the child/young person integrate into mainstream school where appropriate and take part in social activities.
  • To assist in the preparation of reviews, meeting and attend when required.
  • To take part in all training as directed, and take responsibility for your own training.
  • Work alongside the homes manager in ensuring that robust monitoring is completed
  • Off flexible support to RSW.

The post holder may be reasonably expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility that may be allocated from time to time. It is the responsibility of the post holder to comply with Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities requirements at all times.

Supervisions of RSW care staff:

  • Supervises Residential care staff.
  • Undertake formal supervision and assessment interviews in accordance with policy. Maintain records of agreed action points/training needs etc and follow up with the residential care employee with the timetable agreed.
  • Participates in the formal annual appraisal of employees, where applicable. Assists in the application of the home's formal disciplinary policy as determined by the circumstances of any particular case.

Relations with Colleagues

  • To act as member of the staff team, supporting colleagues and being prepared to received support if necessary
  • To participate in staff meetings
  • To act flexible, with reasonable bounds, to ensure necessary cover for the residential home.
  • To inform colleagues of relevant developments by completing detailed handovers.

Household Responsibilities

  • To share in the practical activities necessary to maintain the home.
  • To set high standards in the home
  • To care for the fabric, equipment and the grounds
  • To be accountable for monies allocated to specific purposes.
  • To take responsibilities for running the household effectively, setting and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • To ensure that the child/young person have a balanced diet.
  • To adhere to Health and Safety Regulations and Procedures.
  • To be responsible for accurate, concise recording of information about the child
  • To understand and follow all administrative procedures required by legislation. Regulation and standards.

Personal

  • To keep in touch with good practice in order to develop skills, knowledge and experience, in accordance with your personal development plan.
  • To attend and make use of regular supervision
  • To report to your line manager or other appropriate person, malpractice or evidence which may suggest it using the whistleblowing of safeguarding policy, informing seniors managers and company officials as directed.
  • To attend in-house and external training to develop skills, knowledge and experience.
