Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant - PMLD Support (Lewisham, Lambeth, Southwark, Greenwich)

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)? We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join a network of outstanding schools across South East London - including the boroughs of Lewisham, Lambeth, Southwark, and Greenwich.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with complex needs, working closely with class teachers, therapists, and families to deliver high-quality, person-centred learning. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic, patient, and ready to contribute to a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the learning and development of students with PMLD within the classroom and through 1:1 or small group sessions.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers and multidisciplinary teams to implement EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets.

  • Use specialist strategies and resources, including sensory-based and communication-focused approaches such as PECS or Makaton.

  • Assist with personal care routines and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.

Requirements:

  • Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, especially in PMLD or similar complex needs, is highly desirable.

  • A calm, caring, and empathetic approach to support learners with varying needs and abilities.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, or equivalent) are advantageous.

  • Understanding of safeguarding and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

We Offer:

  • A supportive, inclusive environment across a range of specialist and mainstream school settings in Lewisham, Lambeth, Southwark, and Greenwich.

  • Opportunities for professional development and ongoing training.

  • Competitive daily rates and long-term placement potential.

  • A chance to build a meaningful career in SEND education.

If you are ready to make a genuine impact and thrive as an SEN Teaching Assistant, apply today and take the next step in your career. Whether you are an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or new to the role but eager to learn and grow, we want to hear from you.
