SEN Teaching Assistant - SEN School in Lambeth

Location: Lambeth, London
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Temp to Perm
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM

We are currently recruiting for enthusiastic and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join a well-established Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Lambeth this September.

This school supports students aged 11-19 with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASD), speech and language difficulties, SEMH, and PMLD. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping these learners access education in a safe, structured, and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning needs

  • Assist with personal care and mobility, where required

  • Work collaboratively with class teachers and therapy teams to support pupils' academic and social development

  • Implement behaviour support strategies in line with school policy

  • Encourage independence, communication, and engagement in learning

  • Maintain a safe, nurturing, and positive classroom atmosphere


Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN

  • Confident supporting pupils with ASD, SEMH, or complex learning needs

  • Calm, patient, and flexible approach to classroom support

  • Ability to work well as part of a team

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • A background in care, education, or youth work is highly desirable
