They are seeking to appoint an SEN teacher who is able to demonstrate both excellent classroom practice and an up-to-date understanding of the latest developments in special needs best practise. The class will be a mixed age groups of up to 9 ASD/SLD pupils with the support of 3 full time specialist SEN Teaching Assistants.

Pupils are taught in classes of up to 9 pupils with a specialist teacher with usually 4 special school support assistants per class. The children follow a catered curriculum which is modified to take account of their individual learning needs. Most of the pupils in the school have a diagnosis of Autism. The school has worked hard to make the school an ASD friendly environment and you can see the results as pupils find the school a low stress environment which in turn reduces challenging behaviour. The school uses a structured teaching approach (TEACCH) throughout the school.
