Job description
SEMH Teaching Assistant - Redbridge
Supporting Primary & Secondary Pupils with Social, Emotional & Mental Health Needs
Are you confident working with pupils who need more than just a typical classroom experience? Do you have the resilience and presence to support children and young people who struggle with behaviour, emotions, and trust?
Remedy Education is working with a well-established SEMH school in Redbridge that caters to both primary and secondary age students. This isn't your average school - it's a place where staff show up every day knowing their support can be the difference between a child giving up or giving it another go.
We're looking for an experienced, committed Teaching Assistant to join the team in September 2025. The ideal candidate will understand the challenges that come with SEMH needs - but more importantly, they'll see the potential behind the behaviour.
What you'll be doing
- Working with pupils who need consistent, patient support to manage their emotions and behaviour
- Building strong, honest relationships that help pupils feel safe and respected
- Assisting in lessons and during unstructured times, keeping things calm, focused, and supportive
- Helping pupils access learning at a pace and style that works for them
- Supporting teachers and pastoral staff with behaviour strategies and individual support plans
What we're looking for
- Someone with experience in SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision settings
- A calm, no-nonsense approach that earns trust and sets clear boundaries
- The ability to work with challenging behaviour without taking things personally
- A team player who isn't afraid to get stuck in and adapt on the go
- Someone with a current DBS on the update service or willing to apply through us
This school offers:
- A structured, supportive environment with a clear approach to behaviour and wellbeing
- On-site training and development, including Team Teach and behaviour management methods
- A staff team that looks out for each other - no egos, just people doing work that matters
- Clear expectations and strong leadership that has your back when things get tough
If you're tired of roles where you're not given the tools or backup you need - this is a school that gets it.
To apply, send your CV to Remedy Education or give us a call on 0203 031 4862 to find out more. Interviews are taking place ahead of September, so early applications are encouraged.
Please note: All applicants must have the right to work in the UK. An enhanced DBS and reference checks will be required in line with safeguarding policies.
