We are looking to recruit a locum Approved Mental Health Professional / Liaison practitioner for 3 months based in the Psychiatric Liaison team of Royal London Hospital. The practitioner would carry out mental health care needs assessments of service users presenting in the Emergency Department and the acute hospital, consultation-liaison service, support with discharge arrangements and liaison with relevant services, amongst other relevant responsibilities within the liaison service. As an Approved Mental Health Professional, s/he would identify the need for, and carry out, assessments under the Mental Health Act on behalf of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.The purpose is to reduce the 12 hours waiting times in emergency department for service users with mental health problems, providing timely reviews of their needs and risks, signposting service users to appropriate services. It would also support the AMHP and Emergency Duty Team with the increasing volume of MHA assessments. The role is fully funded by East London NHS Foundation Trust (EFLT) with winter pressure funds.
