Job description

Wandsworth Social Services are looking for a qualified social worker to work in their adult safeguarding team.

Safeguarding (SVa) Hub:
The Safeguarding hub is currently based in the Locality Team in Wandsworth, however, is quite separate to the main locality team. The Safeguarding Hub receives all the safeguarding concerns that come into Wandsworth which do not fit the criteria for the LD and MH Teams. We are a team of 4 front line workers when at full capacity. The hubs role is to screen the safeguarding concerns and make a decision as to whether the concern meets the criteria for S42 enquiry and should be progressed. The Sva hub is managed on a day to day basis by a Senior Social Worker.

Sva Role:
The hub workers will be allocated Sva screenings on a daily basis. Within 24 - 48 hours the hub worker needs to investigate the screening and make a decision as to whether the screening meets the criteria for safeguarding, and whether it should go to S42 Enquiry. Visits may be required, and the worker will need to be based in the office in Wandsworth 1 - 2 days a week. Sva workers will need to ensure the service user or person is safe, which may mean referrals to MASH/MARAC/IDVa's etc if needed. The Sva hub worker will need to have a good understanding of safeguarding, and be able to work in a quick and busy environment due to time frames in which decisions need to be made around safeguarding. The locality term team and duty pick up any ongoing work or emergency care needing to be put in place.
