Remedy Education are recruiting for a PRUTeaching Assistant on a full time & long term basis at a secondary Pupil Referral Unit, PRU, in Southwark. Starting in September 2022, Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm each day.
The role:
- PRU Teaching Assistant providing academic, emotional, behavioural & pastoral support to students in small groups or at times 1:1.
- Monitor behaviour and use preventative methods to keep students' focused.
- Deal with challenging situations calmly, resolutely & by using de-escalation strategies.
- Aid with learning by helping student's to understand & follow instruction of the class teacher & breaking work down in to bitesize chunks.
- Provide a listening ear and act as a positive role model.
- Contribute to a safe, fun, engaging & inclusive school environment.
- Offer motivation, positivity & encouragement to your students.

The school:
- Caters for children aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs, SEMH.
- All children are not able to access mainstream education due to their SEMH needs & challenging behaviours.
- Team work closely together to understand, support & manage their students.
- Busy setting that requires staff to be energetic & resilient and able to persevere through obstacles & challenges in order to help your students achieve.
