Remedy Education are recruiting for a PRUTeaching Assistant on a full time & long term basis at a secondary Pupil Referral Unit, PRU, in Southwark. Starting in September 2022, Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm each day.

The role:

  • PRU Teaching Assistant providing academic, emotional, behavioural & pastoral support to students in small groups or at times 1:1.
  • Monitor behaviour and use preventative methods to keep students' focused.
  • Deal with challenging situations calmly, resolutely & by using de-escalation strategies.
  • Aid with learning by helping student's to understand & follow instruction of the class teacher & breaking work down in to bitesize chunks.
  • Provide a listening ear and act as a positive role model.
  • Contribute to a safe, fun, engaging & inclusive school environment.
  • Offer motivation, positivity & encouragement to your students.
  • This is a fantastic opportunity to build close, meaningful & impactful relationships with young people that are struggling to access education, enabling them to reach their full potential.
  • Although challenging, it can be incredibly rewarding & offer you the ability earn a higher rate of pay in alternative education settings like this than in mainstream school!

The school:

  • Caters for children aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs, SEMH.
  • All children are not able to access mainstream education due to their SEMH needs & challenging behaviours.
  • Team work closely together to understand, support & manage their students.
  • Busy setting that requires staff to be energetic & resilient and able to persevere through obstacles & challenges in order to help your students achieve.
  • CPD opportunities through the school to help you in your role.
  • Rated good by Ofsted.
