Private Sector Enforcement and Regulation Team Manager

Central South London

£25-£35ph

Enforcement & Regulation Manager required to oversee and coordinate the delivery of a viable and responsive private sector housing service as part of the Private Sector Housing Team. To work in accordance with the current private sector housing strategy and the policy and procedures of the Service.

Overseeing and coordinating the delivery of Key work programmes to ensure that private sector homes are safe, secure and healthy for their residents and that accommodation is to a decent standard by providing assistance (grants, loans and advice) and enforcing sanctions

To provide leadership, direction and management of the Environmental Health team. Taking relevant action to ensure the highest standards of service delivery are maintained and that performance targets and quality standards are met in accordance with the required legislative guidelines and best practice approaches

To represent the Council under relevant Environmental Health and other legislation, to prevent infringements, including the drawing up and service of Statutory Notices and other actions which may have a profound

Deal with complex cases personally, where it is necessary to ensure that sensitive or contentious cases are correctly dealt with and these have been escalated by EHOs.

To be responsible for managing operational budgets related to grants/loans or works in default following non-compliance with statutory notices. Monitoring expenditure and income against those budget elements to ensure compliance with the Council's Standing Orders and Financial Regulations. Maximising opportunities for income generation and providing management information as required.

To assist with the establishment and maintenance of detailed financial control procedures governing all expenditure or income and exercise vigilance and awareness to prevent fraudulent activities in line with Council financial regulations.

To manage and supervise as appropriate works in default following non- compliance with statutory notices and to ensure works are carried out satisfactorily and enable the Council to recover its costs.

Develop a general knowledge of other service areas within the Private Sector Housing (Home Improvement Agency) field, work closely with colleagues as necessary and be able to support those areas at times of high priority demand.

To be responsible for ensuring the upkeep, maintenance, and sufficiency of equipment used by the Environmental Health and Safety team.
