Job description

Are you a reliable and proactive caretaker looking for your next opportunity? We're recruiting on behalf of our client for a Caretaker / Premises Assistant to join a busy premises team. This is a hands-on, varied role where you'll be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment across the school.

The Role As part of the premises team, you'll support the efficient and effective running of the site by ensuring high standards of health & safety, security, maintenance, cleaning, and porterage. You'll also assist with facilities support for external bookings and events, ensuring everything runs smoothly and professionally.

  • Key Responsibilities Maintain a safe, secure, and well-presented site at all times
  • Carry out regular inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns
  • Perform light DIY and decorating tasks to maintain the building's appearance
  • Set up halls and shared spaces for daily use and external events
  • Undertake cleaning duties, including periodic deep cleans, to a high standard
  • Act as a key holder and respond to call-outs when required
  • Assist with deliveries, furniture movement, and general site duties
  • Provide on-site support during events and lettings (some evening/weekend work required)
  • Operate site equipment and ensure it is properly maintained
  • Act as a Fire Marshal and uphold health & safety compliance

About You To succeed in this role, you'll need to:

  • Have an awareness of health & safety, security, and maintenance best practices
  • Be approachable and confident dealing with staff, contractors, and visitors
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and pride in your work
  • Be flexible, with a positive, "can-do" attitude
