Start Date: After February half term
Contract: Full-time

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Sixth Form SEN Teacher to join a specialist setting supporting autistic students with complex needs. The successful candidate will begin full time after February half term, with a handover day during the week commencing 9th February to support a smooth transition.

You will be teaching a small class of 10 Sixth Form students, supported by 5 experienced support staff who work alongside the class teacher throughout the day. All students are working at pre-entry to Entry Level 1 and present with autism, sensory needs and are largely non-verbal.

The Role:

  • Deliver a practical, engaging and highly personalised curriculum

  • Teach functional skills through real-life learning and community-based activities

  • Plan and deliver lessons aligned to the ASDAN framework

  • Track and monitor student progress using MAPP

  • Use symbols, core boards and alternative communication methods to support communication

  • Promote independence, life skills and preparation for adulthood

  • Work collaboratively with a skilled support team and wider professionals

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Be a qualified teacher with experience in SEN, ideally post-16

  • Have strong knowledge of autism, sensory processing and non-verbal communication

  • Be confident delivering functional, practical and life-skills-based learning

  • Understand the importance of communication development and independence

  • Be organised, patient and highly collaborative

  • Have experience with or a willingness to learn ASDAN and MAPP

This is a highly rewarding role for a teacher who is passionate about preparing young people with complex needs for adulthood through meaningful, practical learning experiences.
