PMLD Teaching Assistant

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for your next role supporting pupils with PMLD (profound and multiple learning disability) in the London borough of Greenwich, South East London?

Remedy Education is currently looking for a dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to join this Special Needs School in the area of Greenwich, South East London, to start September until July 2023 at least. This is a full time, long term role paying between £80 - £90 per day. This school is an all-through SEN school providing for students between ages 11 - 19 years old with PMLD (profound, multiple learning disability), who are non-verbal and will require support with personal care.

As a PMLD Teaching Assistant you will be working in the Upper School of a Post-16 class, working in a small group of 6 students alongside a class teacher and 3 other Teaching Assistants. All students are non-verbal and use objects of reference, gesture and body signing in communicative interactions. Their learning includes sensory stories, connecting and responding activities, Music, Physio and Positioning. This school is looking for a PMLD Teaching Assistant who is enthusiastic and reliable, has high aspirations of working with students and would be able to ensure the safety and general welfare of students on site throughout the school day.

This Greenwich school has been rated Ofsted Outstanding consistently for the past six inspections and comes highly recommended! Students in this school present with complex needs, particularly PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disability) Each student will have an EHC Plan so the successful candidate will need to be adaptable in their teaching approach and be able to use their own initiative. The school is very supportive of their staff and makes a real effort to ensure every new starter feels welcomed and has sufficient training to help their transition. It is a school which is gradually expanding, year after year, meaning there is lots of room for internal career progression and permanent placements.

Essential Requirements:

• Experience supporting young people with special educational needs, specifically PMLD.
• Previous support work, TA or LSA work within a Secondary School or other related experience.
• Have a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
• A caring and professional manner, willing to support with the personal care of pupils.
• Must have legal right to work in the UK.
