P.E Teaching Assistant - Special Needs School - Edmonton

Remedy Education are looking for sports specialist to assist in the P.E department in one of our special needs schools in the North London area.

No qualifications or training is required but a great attitude and an interest in sport and fitness is a must, however sports related degrees and qualifications are beneficial. If you have a keen passion for sports such as football, athletics, body building, rugby then this could be for you.

You would be required to work in a special needs school for students with autism aged between 4-18. Due to the needs of the students these lessons will differ from what you would expect to a mainstream school as there will be more focus on sensory development as well as stimulating muscle growth.

Main Duties

  • Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups during P.E
  • Assessing pupils levels and ability
  • Differentiating work based on students' needs and abilities
  • Covering classes in absence of other staff
  • Behaviour management
  • Ensuring the schools ethos and policies are being implemented
  • Liaising with parents and carer

This role would start off on a temporary basis with the potential to go long-term.
