Job description

As the Service Manager for Children & Young People, Placement & Brokerage, you will have experience of leading and developing Looked After Children and Care leaver Services with a strong focus on placement development. You will lead and develop excellent services for children and young people, ensuring the development and delivery of appropriate and value for money packages of care. Our client is looking for an exceptional candidate who will lead and develop a service that will deliver placements and brokerage for both children and young people. Lead and manage the service, developing excellent relationships with children's teams and the care leaving service, ensuring the provision of high quality services at the appropriate cost.
* Secure effective, value for money brokering and matching of quality placements and packages of care across children and young people's services, ensuring tight financial control on spend;
* Development of the sufficiency strategy with commissioning colleagues to ensure new commercial approaches, development and implementation of different buying solutions and robust contract management;
* Develop strong relationships with relevant departments, divisions and services, ensuring alignment of services to corporate priorities and frameworks.


This is a role for a leader with a track record of building teams, delivering quality and cost effective services. Credible and effective when partnering with colleagues, you will have outstanding stakeholder and relationship management skills and significant experience of working in public services. With excellent understanding of the policy and strategic framework for both children and young people's services, you will have significant experience of working with looked after children, care leavers and placement development.
