Mental Health Support Assistant - Outreach Work
Location: Maylandsea, Essex

About the Role:
Remedy Education is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Mental Health Support Assistant to provide outreach support to children and young people across the Maylandsea area. This is a rewarding opportunity to work outside of a traditional classroom environment, offering one-to-one support to students who may not be attending school due to mental health challenges, anxiety, trauma, or behavioural needs.
You will play a vital role in helping these young people re-engage with education and develop emotional resilience, confidence, and independence.
Key Responsibilities
Provide outreach support to children and young people in the community settings, or alternative education provisions.
Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support their emotional well being and personal development.
Work closely with school staff, parents, and external professionals to deliver consistent, tailored support plans.
Maintain accurate progress reports and safeguarding documentation.
Requirements
Experience working with children or young people with social, emotional, or mental health (SEMH) needs.
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle - essential for travelling to outreach sessions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
A calm, patient, and compassionate approach to behaviour management.
Ability to work independently while following guidance from the school and Remedy Education
