Position: Media Teacher

(With a small amount of general cover)

Location: Dagenham, RM8

Contract Type: Full-Time, Short Term cover

Salary: Depending on experience

Start Date: October 9th 2024

Role Overview:

As a Media Teacher you will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive media studies lessons to students. You will encourage critical thinking, creativity, and practical skills in media production and analysis.

Key Responsibilities as a Media Teacher:

  • Develop and deliver a dynamic media studies curriculum that covers various aspects of media production, theory, and analysis.
  • Create engaging lesson plans that cater to a range of abilities and learning styles.
  • Teach students to use media production equipment and software, such as cameras, editing tools, and graphic design programs.
  • Assess and monitor student progress through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
  • Organise and oversee media projects, including film, photography, and digital media.
  • Stay updated with current trends and developments in media and integrate real-world examples into lessons.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support cross-curricular learning and school-wide initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about student progress and achievements.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and media teaching techniques.

Key Requirements of a Media Teacher

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Media Studies, Communication, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Media Teacher, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of media production techniques and media theory.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
  • Commitment to creating a positive and engaging learning environment.
