Are you resilient, empathetic, and confident supporting young people with challenging behaviour? Do you have experience working with at-risk youth, gang intervention, or alternative provisions?

We are recruiting a Male Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to provide 1:1 support for a male student in a well-established SEN secondary school in Greenwich. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in a young person's life by offering structure, support, and positive mentorship.

About the Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work closely with a male student who has experienced gang culture and requires focused behavioural and emotional support. You will play a critical role in helping him re-engage with education and navigate social challenges through trust, consistency, and guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support tailored to the student's academic and emotional needs

  • Use de-escalation strategies to manage challenging behaviour

  • Serve as a mentor and role model, promoting positive choices

  • Work collaboratively with school staff, SENCOs, and external agencies

  • Implement and monitor behaviour management plans

  • Support the student in building resilience, confidence, and life skills

Who We're Looking For:

  • A male mentor or youth support worker with strong interpersonal skills

  • Experience in PRUs, alternative provisions, youth work, or gang intervention roles

  • Excellent behaviour management and the ability to remain calm under pressure

  • A genuine passion for working with vulnerable or at-risk young people

  • The ability to build trust and form strong relationships with disengaged learners

  • Resilience, patience, and a trauma-informed approach

Why Join This Role?

  • Make a long-term impact in a student's life

  • Join a committed and experienced SEN support team

  • Professional development and training opportunities available

  • Flexible working options (full-time, part-time, or daily supply)

  • Based in a supportive school in Greenwich with accessible transport links
