Learning Support Assistant - ASD & Complex needs - Lambeth

Would you like to work with young people with special needs within a school environment?

There is an opportunity at a local school for an individual with previous SEN experience, or a graduate with a keen interest in this area of work. This role would suit someone who is keen to gain more experience within schools with a view to completing teacher training in the future, or for those keen to work within youth justice, or with young offenders.

The suitable candidate will be expected to:

  • Offer support for students before, during and after lessons
  • Assist students to understand and participate in set tasks
  • Be flexible to work with whole class groups, small groups or individual learners
  • Help promote each students love of learning
  • Join team meetings and training programmes as an active member of a team
  • Follow regulations pertaining to safeguarding
  • Where required, supporting individual needs including assisting with a wide range of medical and occasionally personal care tasks as necessary and providing physical support where needed (training will be provided in giving medical care and support)

The suitable candidate will have:

  • An undergraduate degree, and/or prior experience working alongside pupils with SEND
  • Good general education levels in English and Maths
  • Knowledge, keen interest or understanding of the range of different types of learning difficulties and disabilities (SEMH, ASD & Complex Needs)
  • Ability to adapt to a various working environments and students with differing abilities
  • Practical approach to the needs of students with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities
  • Good interpersonal and communication skill and a caring attitude
  • Flexibility in terms of working patterns

  • SEN LSA - Graduate Learning Support Assistant - Teaching Assistant
  • £70 - £90 daily rate (5 days per week)
