Tenancy Team Leader - Islington

To manage and direct the performance of the tenancy management team. This includes overseeing the delivery of services for tenancy management, tenancy enforcement, anti-social behaviour, void and letting control and resident involvement provided in the Area Housing office for tenants and leaseholders of Islington. This includes the day to day supervision of Tenancy Management Advisers, Anti-Social Behaviour Officers and Tenancy Management Assistants.

 To assist the Housing Services Manager or the Area Housing Manager in setting the annual service plan and key objectives for the team, and to ensure that they are achieved, including the monitoring of performance so that standards are attained.
 To be responsible for the effective and efficient provision of tenancy management services. This will include effective management of resident concerns on Anti-Social Behaviour, problem solving cases and ensuring actions taken make a real difference to the quiet enjoyment of residents.
 Devise and promote mechanisms for implementing and monitoring tenancy enforcement procedures.
 Assist the Housing Services Manager and Area Housing Manager as required in devising and developing procedure manuals for each aspect of work.
 To be responsible for the prompt and efficient letting of properties in line with Islington Council's procedures. Ensure liaison mechanisms are in place for dealing with the voids maintenance teams and appropriate contractors.
 To ensure the team act as the first point of call for residents on tenancy matters and that where appropriate residents are directed to the correct section or department in a courteous and efficient manner.
 To provide the relevant statistics and performance management reports on the activities of the team as required.
 To ensure that mechanisms are in place for implementing and monitoring tenancy enforcement procedures, voids and lettings and tenancy changes.
 To ensure that a prompt, courteous and helpful response is given by staff when dealing with queries from or initiating contact with, service users, their representatives or outside agencies.
 To deal with complaints and enquiries and ensure that they are dealt within target timescales and that due consideration is given to the quality of responses.
 To establish the highest professional standard within the team in accordance with Islington Council policy, and to monitor service delivery to ensure that the required standards are maintained and that timely and appropriate action is taken where necessary.
 To ensure that proper liaison and monitoring arrangements are set up with other parts of the service, other departments and also contractors responsible for the provision of services within the area. This will include legal services, social services, environmental health, police, youth services and the crime reduction team. To ensure that where appropriate problems are tackled and remedial action is taken.
 To implement action plans and a problem solving approach to tackling specific issues.
